Limon worked as a driver for Roberto 'Osito', Pablo Escobar's older brother for 20 years."My father had no contacts, no help from the law to escape," Sebastian writes, and says that his dad escaped by asking for some bricks in the cell to be left loose. There was no huge confrontation during Escobar's escape from La Catedral – Sebastian says only one guard was killed.Sebastian says he was later "unjustly accused and sentenced for the Avianca bombing, which killed 100 passengers and crew". La Quica was in prison in New York at the time of Escobar's escape from La Catedral in July 1992, having been jailed in September 1991 for falsifying documents.Small but important point – Sebastian says Pablo Escobar was not a fan of Atletico Nacional, but Deportivo Independiente Medellin. He says that Carlos never dealt drugs and never lived in Miami. Sebastian describes his uncle as as "an honest, noble man and father" who was never involved in any illicit activities. Carlos Henao, Escobar's brother-in-law, was not a drug-dealer like he is shown on the show. ![]() "Previous government had decided to observe certain jayantis (birth anniversary of prominent figures) and left out others. The inaccuracies according to Escobar's son - kindly translated by The Telegraph - are as follows. The beauty of the show lies in its gradual discovery." I thought about it for a long time, before I finally said, "You don't. One person asked me possibly the most obvious question there is, "do I need to have watched season two?". ![]() ![]() While I was binge-watching the season through most of last week, I felt the need to talk/discuss or analyse the show. I definitely missed the presence of a calculative character like Valeria Vélez, who played a journalist and Escobar's mistress in season one. By episode five, you want things to speed up (pun-not intended), and when things finally pick up by episode 7, you'll find yourself watching with your heart racing (much like the cocaine experience?).īarring a few characters here and there (Miguel's mistress, and a coked-up housewife who befriends Agent Peña), there are no note-worthy female characters in this season. Narcos season three is instead dominated by (hard-hitting) conversations. There are far fewer chase sequences, and nail-biting, political action. What's refreshing in this season is that supporting characters are given a lot of play, and even though Peña leads the pack (the first and last episode begin and end with him and his fight), we get to know a lot about small pegs that hold the narrative together.īrothers Gilberto and Miguel Rodriguez are the backbone of the Cali Cartel. In one poignant scene, a DEA agent tells Peña (who boasts of pitches for "justice" and "truth" in order to shake the complacent system), "if there was any justice in this world, you'd be in jail." Subjective questions like 'how far, is too far?' is something you find yourself thinking about. Pena and his team have to dig much deeper, and put a lot more at risk to get to them. However, if Escobar was protected by the masses, the Cali cartel is protected by economic and political systems in Colombia. Chepe (L) checks out the Cali cartel's cocaineĮven though the DEA agents are aware of the Cali Cartel's "surrender" - and the government's compliance with their plan - three agents, Chris Feistl, Daniel Van Ness and Peña, decide to go after them anyway. ![]()
